The new tax regime has been favourable for the market as it exempted the VAT for phones under COP 7,00,000 and at the same time increase of tax from 16% to 19%. These measures have hurt the indigenous brands because of increase exogenous competition in the country. Further, the market seems to be optimistic as the government has started to formulate the country’s new General Law of telecommunications, which aim to boost investment in the Telecom Sector.
